Ahead of Assembly elections, Uttarakhand Transport Minister Yashpal Arya and his son Sanjeev Arya, an MLA of the ruling BJP quit BJP and joined Congress on Monday.
A six-time MLA and ex-president of the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before assembly elections in the state in 2017. Arya was holding the Transport Ministry in Pushkar Singh Dhami’s Government but was unhappy over the appointment of Dhami as CM.
Arya rejoined Congress in presence of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other national leaders of the party in Delhi.
