19 years old Indian Shooter Avani Lekhera has scripted history in Tokyo Paralympics 2020 by becoming the first Indian woman to win a gold medal in Paralympic Games. Lekhera won a historic gold medal in the women’s 10 m Air Rifle Standing SH1 final.
On Monday morning session at Tokyo Paralympics, India won four medals including a gold, two silver medals, and a bronze, and took its tally to 7 medals.
Besides Avani Lekhara, In Men’s Discus Throw F56 event Yogesh Kathuniya won a silver medal while Davendra Jhajharia and Sundar Singh won silver and bronze medals respectively in Men’s Javelin F46 event.
Before, India won 3 medals including Bhavina Patel’s (She won the first medal at the ongoing edition of Paralympics) silver in the Women’s singles Table Tennis C4 event, Nishad Kumar,s silver medal in Men’s High Jump T47 category, and Vinod Kumar’s bronze medal in the Men’s Discus Throw F52 event.
