The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced on Saturday that by-elections will be held in four constituencies on September 30, including chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s assembly constituency of Bhabhanipur in West Bengal.
On the same day, elections will be placed in West Bengal’s Samserganj and Jangipur, as well as in Odisha’s Pipli. The ECI said that the votes would be counted on October 3.
The deadline for nominations is September 13th, and applicants can withdraw their names until September 16th.
Mamata Banerjee lost the West Bengal assembly elections in Nandigram, where she fought against BJP’s. She has to get re-elected to the assembly within six months to retain her chief minister’s seat.
