Space Scientist of Indian-origin sets up NGO to help Indian students Excel in Space

London-based Indian-origin Priya Patel is a 25-year-old Space Scientist, who worked with space agencies like ESA and NASA. To help many Indian students she has now set up an NGO in the US for allowing young Indian students from low socio-economic backgrounds to get better space facilities abroad.

Priya Patel holds a master’s degree in Space Sciences Engineering from the University College London and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in that college collaboration with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Currently, she is working on collecting atmosphere data from NASA’s Perseverance Rover that landed on the Red planet this year in February. She has also delivered an analysis using Mars climate sounder that’s aboard NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter for conducting research on the Martian atmosphere.

She mentioned that she was so lucky to get these opportunities after the hardships and sacrifices made by her parents and she now wants to offer these chances to the students. Who are passionate about space and are limited by resources.
