Weeks after the expansion of the Union Cabinet, the Narendra Modi government on Tuesday made changes in the Cabinet Committees.
Former Assam CM and Union Cabinet Minister for Ports, waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal has been included in the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs headed by Prime Minister Modi. Minister for Women and Child Development, Smriti Irani, and Labour Minister Bhupender Yadav are also the new members of the committee.
Another Cabinet Minister from North East, Minister for Law and Justice, Kiren Rijiju has been included in Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs headed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Union Ministers Virendra Kumar and Anurag Thakur are also new members of the committee.
Union Ministers Narayan Rane, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Ashwini Vaishnaw are now in Cabinet Committee on Investment and Growth. While Ashwini Vaishnav, Bhupender Yadav, RCP Singh and G Kishan Reddy are added to Cabinet Committee on Employment and Skill Development.
The Cabinet Committee on Security has been left untouched with PM Modi along with Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The Cabinet Committee on Appointments also remains unchanged with the Prime Minister heading it, with Home Minister Amit Shah as a member.
