Chief Minister of Sikkim Prem Singh Tamang has announced that vaccination drive for people of 18-44 age group to commence from May 16.
With surges in covid cases in the state, the government has taken this step to start from May 16, as it could not be carried out due to a shortage of vaccines.
As per the latest data, Sikkim received 3,03,400 doses of vaccine and has given 2.20 lakh vaccine doses since the commencement of the vaccine drive, recording 0.87% wastage.
It’s noteworthy that on Tuesday, Sikkim has reported 8 more covid death, that increases total death toll up to 177.
R. Teleng , Principal Secretary of Home Department, Sikkim Government said to the media that to curb the situation, a negative RT-PCR report has been made compulsory for all the passengers arriving at the Pakyong Airport.
