Nine new Supreme Court Judges take oath on Tuesday morning. Chief Justice of India NV Ramana administered the oath of office to the new judges in a swearing-in ceremony held at the auditorium of the Supreme Court’s additional building complex.
The judges who take oath o Tuesday morning are Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka, Justice Vikram Nath, Justice J K Maheswari, Justice Hima Kohli, Justice B V Nagarathna, Justice C T Ravikumar, Justice M M Sundaresh, Justice Bela Trivedi and Senior advocate P S Narasimha.
With taking the oath of new judges the Supreme Court of India now has four women justices- Justices BV Nagarathna, Hima kohl and Bela Trivedi, besides Justice Indira Banerjee, the only women judge at present. From the list, Justice Nagarathna could become the first woman CJI in 2027 who will likely have a short tenure of just over a month.
