With the addition of yet another spectacular waterfall to its inventory, the tourist town of Sohra has now added another feather to its cap.
Prut Falls, which is located in Laitlyndop hamlet and has a height of 40 meters, is likely to become a popular tourist attraction after being inaugurated on Saturday by KHADC Chief Executive Member Titosstarwell Chyne. This waterfall is generated by the inflowing stream from Khliehshnong Laitlyndop, Umkrem, and Madan Umkrem into the Urwan river. The Urwan River runs from Mawsiang to Shyngoid in the Sohra Syiemship. Laitlyndop VEC built the Prut Falls pathway and the overlook under the MGNREGA programme.
Chyne, speaking at the event, expressed optimism that the new spot will help draw more tourists to Sohra. “I am pleased that the growth of Prut Waterfall as a tourist destination was made possible by the village’s combined efforts,” he remarked.
The KHADC CEM also gave the Dorbar Shnong of Laitlyndop village a work order to continue developing the infrastructure around the waterfall. He asked those who came to see the waterfall to keep it clean.
