The Nagaland and Mizoram government has decided to start vaccination drive for the age group 18-44 from May, 17.
Releasing an official statement, the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare of the Nagaland govt said that thru have received 36,580 vaccine doses on May, 12. Also it said, the vaccination drive will be held in 24 session sites on May, 17 and 28 sites on May 18. Monday and Tuesday have been reserved for vaccination of this group.
On the other hand, after receiving a consignment of 1,6340 doses of Covishield on Thursday, the Mizoram Govt. also decided to start vaccination from May, 17.
According to the Health Secretary of Mizoram, Mizoram needs at least 80,000-90,000 more doses for full vaccination to 45+ age group other than the 18-44 age group.
He said that the number of beneficiaries in 18-44 age group is 5.1 lakh and the govt has already placed an order for procurement of more than 10.2 lakh.
Mizoram, at present, has a total population of 12.26 lakh.
Urging the people of both states, the state authority asked citizens to register at the CoWin and Aarogya Setu app.
