For his controversial remarks on Allopathy medicine, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev has been slapped with Rs 1000 crore defamation notice by Indian Medical Association’s Uttrakhand division.
Terming the remarks of the yoga guru a “criminal act” under section of 499 of the Indian Penal Code, the notice states that if he doesn’t post a video countering the statements given by him and tender a written apology within the next 15 days, then a sum of Rs 1,000 crore will be demanded from him at the rate of Rs 50 lakh per member of the IMA if he failed to do so.
IMA state unit, President Dr Ajay Khanna said that a letter has been sent to the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary on Monday evening in this regard.
On Sunday, Ramdev withdrew his statements on allopathic medicine after receiving a strong-worded letter from Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan who called his remarks “inappropriate”.
Earlier, Ramdev was seen reading out from his phone in the 140-second long video, which was shared widely on social media. “Allopathy is a stupid science. Firstly, hydroxychloroquine failed, the Remdesivir failed… Plasma therapy effectiveness is now banned, the steroids have failed. Even Fabiflu and Ivermectin have also failed,” he said in Hindi.
Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Sunday called yoga guru Ramdev’s statement on allopathic medicines “extremely unfortunate” and asked him to withdraw the remark, saying it disrespects ‘corona warriors’ and can break the morale of healthcare workers.
