Union minister Nitin Gadkari said on Thursday that the government will make the national capital pollution-free in the next three years, noting that pollution is the country’s largest worry. The road transport minister told the annual session of industry association PHDCCI that his ministry has invested Rs 60,000 crore on road infrastructure development, which has helped to reduce air pollution in Delhi.
“The country’s primary issues are air pollution, water pollution, and noise pollution. In the next three years, we will make Delhi pollution-free in terms of air, water, and sound,” he remarked.
Gadkari stated that the road ministry is working on a proposal to relocate all 1,700 godowns and container facilities from Delhi.
“We will examine that suggestion with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in the next 15 days,” he said.
Gadkari further stated that the road ministry is constructing a Rs 1 lakh crore logistics park. The minister stated that he has proposed to Kejriwal that exclusively electric buses be used for public transportation in Delhi.
