God on the Balcony, an Assamese film, directed by renowned director Biswajeet Bora has been selected for the prestigious Shanghai International Film Festival, 24th edition.
The film talks about the lack of proper livelihood, economic inequality, poor infrastructure in rural areas. The critically acclaimed movie, starring Harish Khanna, Pranami Bora, Porinandgi Jima Sultanat will be released on October 21 this year.
Over the last year, this movie has been screened at the 19th Pune International Film Festival, 25th International Film Festival of Kerala, 24th Kolkata International Film Festival where Director Bora won the Best Director award in the Indian Language Films Category.
The film also got selected for the globally famous New York Indian Film Festival, which is scheduled to be held from June 4 to 11 virtually, due to the Covid-19. The film is produced by Noorul Sultana under Maina Productions.
Inspired by a real-life story of Dana Majhi from Odisha, who was bound to carry his wife’s body for ten kilometres due to lack of financial support.
