Former Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate change under Narendra Modi Government and Ex-BJP MP Babul Supriyo joins Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Saturday. The former BJP leader joins TMC in the presence of TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien.
“It gives us immense joy to welcome the former Union Minister and sitting MP from Asansol, Babul Supriyo, into the Trinamool family. He joined us today in the presence of our National General Secretary,” the official account of TMC tweeted.
Babul Supriyo left BJP on July 31 and declared that he had quit politics and would resign from MP too. The decision came soon after the playback singer had been dropped from the Modi Ministry during a major reshuffle of the Modi Cabinet in July.
Supriyo joined BJP in 2014 and was elected to Look Sabha twice from Asansol.
