The first edition of The Himalayan Film Festival 2021 will be held in Ladakh’s Leh from September 24 to 28. The festival will host by the Union Territory of Ladakh in collaboration with the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry.
The prime focus of the festival is to showcase the tourism and culture of the Himalayan region and to promote aspiring filmmakers to showcase Ladakh and other Himalayan states as attractive destinations for film shoots.
Filmmakers from the Himalayan states of Ladakh, Assam, Sikkim, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh will participate in the festival.
The film festival will focus on recognising local talent in short and documentary filmmaking, connecting the filmmaking community through networking and collaborative projects, and center-staging the filmmaking process and incentivising local talent to pursue a career in filmmaking, an official statement said.
