Manoj Tiwari, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was hurt on Tuesday while demonstrating near Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence against a ban on Chhath Puja celebrations in public areas due to the Covid-19 outbreak. He was brought to the Safdarjung Hospital’s emergency room, where he was said to be stable. When Delhi police used water cannons to remove a gathering of protestors, including Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta, who were calling for the ban to be lifted.
Tiwari was injured after falling from a barricade he had climbed onto while Delhi Police deployed water cannons, according to a police official. Tiwari was injured while standing atop the barricade, according to Abhay Verma, the Delhi BJP’s chief spokesperson. Verma stated, “He is now stable.” To prevent protestors from approaching Kejriwal’s home, the area around it was extensively sealed.
