On Saturday, Chief Justice of India NV Ramana pressed for the creation of a National Judicial Infrastructure Authority (NJIA) of India to give the “complete financial autonomy of judiciary”.
The CJI said he has forwarded a proposal to the Ministry of Law and Justice for the establishment of the NJAI, noting that good judicial infrastructure for Indian courts has always been an “afterthought.”
CJI Ramana urged law minister Kiran Rijiju to ensure that the motion is taken up at the Parliament’s upcoming Winter Session.
