Moplah rebellion in Kerela was the first manifestation of Talibani mindset in India, BJP leader Ram Madhav claims on Thursday.
Ram Madhav at the inauguration ceremony of Mapilla Ritots Martyrs Remembrance Program at Kozhikode said that the Taliban is not just a terror outfit, it is a mindset. Born out of fundamentalists, radicalists, and Islamist ideas. Its victims are around the world even in Muslim countries. One of the worst victims of such a mindset has been in India. This mindest was responsible for the partition of India, he added.
“In the last century, the first society to be subjected to this kind of mindset was none other than Kerela. The Moplah rebellion was in a way the first manifestation of Taliban Mindset in India,” he claimed.
He further said that as an attempt to hide the details of the revolt, it was projected as the agitation against British rule or the agrarian uprising.
He alleged that the ruling left government of Kerela is trying to project it as a movement against the British or a communist revolution against bourgeois or Zamindar by celebrating it.
The former National General Secretary of BJP, Ram Madhav also claimed that the left government in Kerela is trying to whitewash the Moplah rebellion.
The Mappila or Moplah rebellion took place in 1921 in the Malabar region of Kerela. The Moplahs or Mappilas were a Muslim peasantry class who revolted against the British administration as well as against the prevailing feudal system controlled by upper Caste Hindu landlords. During the rebellion, the rebels attacked and killed numbers of Hindu landlords and destroyed several public properties like Telegraph lines, Post offices, etc.
