Former Bihpuria MLA and All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Bhupen Kr. Borah has been appointed as the new President of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Saturday evening by Congress high command.

Borah, who served as Assam Pradesh Youth Congress President and spokesperson for Government of Assam, will replace Congress MP (Rajya Sabha) Ripun Borah as new Chief of Assam Congress.
In a notification, the AICC president also appointed three working presidents for the state. Former Jorhat MLA Rana Goswami, MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha, and Sarukhetri MLA Zakir Hussain Sikdar have been appointed as working presidents of APCC.
