Making the North East Region of India proud again, An Arunachali Woman – Tashi Yangjom becomes the first Indian woman to scale Mount Everest this season. She clinched the highest peak on May 11.
Congratulating Yangjom Arunachal CM Pema Khandu took to Twitter. He wrote, “Congratulations Ms Tashi Yangjom for scaling Mt. Everest and becoming the first Indian lady climber to Summit Everest this Season. Regular Training at @DirangNimas has made her a strong mountaineer with blitzkrieg speed. She becomes the ninth climber from NIMAS to scale Everest.”

A regular trainee from the National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (NIMAS) , Yangjom comes from Lubrang village, about 23 km aerial distance away from the district headquarters. She became the ninth climber from the Institute to scale the highest peak in the world.
Yangjom, in 2018 clinched the 5887 mts high Mount Baisakhi along with 7 other members from NIMAS.
