Taliban co-founder and head of political office, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar may lead the new Taliban government in Afghanistan. According to media reports, the new Taliban Government will likely be announced today.
According to sources, Mullah Baradar will be joined by Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob and Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai, in senior positions in the new government.
The new Taliban Government will follow the pattern of the Iranian Government, where the Taliban’s top spiritual leader Haibatullah Akhundzada will be appointed as Afghanistan’s supreme authority. Haibatullah Akhundzada being the highest political and religious authority of the country will monitor the government from Kandahar while his three deputies Mullah Baradar, Mohammad Yaqoob and Abbas Stanekzai will be in the daily functioning of the new Government.
In the Iranian model, the supreme leader is the highest political and religious authority of the country who is above the president and appoints the heads of the military as well as the government and the judiciary. The supreme leader has the final say in the political, religious and military affairs of the country.
For all kinds of preparations for the new government, all the top leaders of the Taliban have moved to Kabul. Sources state that the Taliban’s top leaders and other leaders in Afghanistan have reached a consensus for the formation of a new government and cabinet.
