According to Kyodo News, citing the Games’ organizing committee, a foreign participant in the Paralympic Games in Japan has been hospitalized with non-severe COVID-19 symptoms.

This is the first case of hospitalization amidst COVID in the current Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. On Monday, the national government and the Tokyo Metropolitan government urged hospitals in Tokyo to accept more COVID-19 patients. In Japan, hospitals that treat COVID-19 patients normally have beds set aside for those who are experiencing severe symptoms.
