The Supreme Court orders to connect Jails with the Internet so that prisoners get bail on time.
On Thursday, The apex court asked Solicitor General, Amicus Curiae to equip Jails with internet connectivity so that Prisoners get immediate release after getting bail.
On July 8, The Supreme Court gave bail orders to 13 convicted Prisoners considering that they were declared as Juveniles at Juvenile Justice Board. These 13 convicted Prisoners were in Agra Central Jail for periods ranging from 14 to 22 years in a murder case. But the Jail authority delayed the release of prisoners saying that they did not get the release copy of the order by post.
Following the incident, a three-Judge bench headed by the Chief Justice of India recommended states to install internet facilities in jails so that such couldn’t take place in the future.
The three-member bench included the CJI, justices A S Bopanna, and L Nageswara Rao.
